Oh my goodness today has flown by!! Spring has definitely sprung and it’s been a gorgeous day here in Tamborine and it’s been a busy day at the desk! Your next couple of tasks towards your 90 Day Challenge are your Goals and your ‘Why’.
2: Write down your goals for the next 90 days. What do you want to achieve. Do you want to start a business, run 5 km’s without stopping, lose 15 kgs, learn to sing, get your paperwork in order, learn to ride a horse? If you feel overwhelmed by the number of things that you’ve identified as needing improvement just focus on ONE. Once you have that mastered, start on the next. For example focus on one credit card and once that is paid start on the next. If you have a number of bad eating habits start on ONE thing you can change, maybe you’ll give up wheat products this week and dairy next week ~ or maybe your big challenge is to cut refined sugars from your diet. Make and keep ONE promise to yourself a week. Choose a ‘promise day’. This will be the day that you set yourself a task and promise yourself that by the end of the day you’ll have kept that ~ no matter what, honoring yourself and building your integrity with yourself! As you begin to see improvements your confidence in yourself will grow and you’ll eagerly continue to make progress.
3: Why?? Why is your goal important to you? Your reason why you want to do this is probably the most important part of the process. Without a good reason why you may find on the morning that you’re tired and don’t want to get out of bed for your run that you will have an excuse at the ready … “I’ll make up for it tomorrow” etc, your compelling reason why will help you to shut down those chattering voices and you will be able to make yourself get out of bed knowing that losing today puts you a day behind reaching your goal. Know that EVERY day matters on the path to building your new reality. Write your WHY down with your goals and read it EVERY day, twice a day if you can fit it in. They say that the only difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is the amount of times during the day that they read their goals to themselves. Now your goal and your reason may not have anything to do with income, but you are working on building an enriched life! I’d love to hear your comments and thoughts, please feel welcome to share your goals and why you are dedicated to achieving them below, I’d love to hear from you!!
How exciting!! With the changing of the seasons people often think about changing some aspect of their lives, down-under particularly as we go into Spring people often think of weight loss, heading towards Summer and Christmas maybe the ability to make more money so they can have an awesome family vacation during the Christmas holidays. Whatever Spring symbolises for you, I’m excited to invite you to participate in my “Change Your Life in 90 Days” Challenge. Beginning on September 1st you’ll have the opportunity to share with your dreams, goals and successes. I’ll be there with you every step of the way and I’d love for you to post your comments and feedback. Is there something you’ve been wanting to start on for a while but just haven’t – use this as your catalyst to make the change that you want – and deserve. Something that you can look back on as a turning point in your life! Now this challenge is specifically for you – big or small, make your goal something that is meaningful to YOU.
Pre-Challenge preparation.
Our challenge will start on September 1st and the few days ahead are for you to prepare yourself for your challenge. This time is for you to identify what you’d like to change, to work out how you’re going to go about it and to have a written plan in place. Even if you don’t have all the pieces in place in your mind or know exactly how you’re going to get there, the plan and your INTENTION is the important part.
To Do List: Get a notebook or A4 size journal. Make it something special, either cover it in a nice contact paper or decorate it, or choose one that already has pictures on it. In it you will write the day, date and day number eg: Thursday, September 1st 2011: Day 1. You will do this on each page right through until you reach 90 days, Tuesday, November 29th, 2011: Day 90.
1: It’s important to know exactly where you are now. Don’t see things worse than they are, but honestly evaluate where you are in life. If it’s weight loss – weigh yourself, take your measurements, keep a food journal for the next few days to identify where your trouble spots are. If it’s financial – write down all of your bad debt, credit cards, store cards, keep an expenditure journal and every time you spend any money write it down, even if it’s just a 50 cent purchase, write it down. Brain-storm with yourself or someone you trust to honestly identify your starting point. Don’t cheat on this because the only one who knows is you and the only person you will be cheating is YOU.
Ok, I’ll chat more tomorrow!! I’m here in Sydney at the moment, having just had THE most amazing weekend and Lily and I are catching a plane home in about 3 hours so I better get organised!
Thought I’d share this little clip with you. I just love all the great ways in which to be able to share experiences with you! This was put together with TripWow and just highlights a part of an amazing family trip to New Zealand… I hope you enjoy it!
This trip was a really significant milestone for me in my business as it was the first BIG goal that I had aimed for and achieved. At the time it seemed a huge achievement and I just didn’t know how I was going to pull the whole thing off. I was so attached to bringing it to fruition, I couldn’t bear to let my family down so I absolutely went for it and amazed myself in the process …and at the same time increased the belief I had in myself exponentially!!!
It is amazing what we can do when failure is not an option!!
Here I am tweaking what I have been learning today and come up with an even better way to add video to my posts!! Amazing what some helpful friends and Google Search can achieve! This video is my first creation using Animoto. Animoto is a free service that allows you to upload photos, match them to music and add text to create a special and unique message. This video really came from my heart as I reflected on my journey, where I began and what I have been able to accomplish in such a short time.
What I’m also going to do as well as adding the video for you to see is to add the steps on how I did it so you can do the same!!
You’ll want to have Youtube open and have selected a relevant clip that you want to add.
My blog is through WordPress so the steps are relevant to that. Go to ‘Posts’ and ‘Add New Post’, you’ll see to the top right there is an HTML tab and you’ll want to click on that. Then you want to go into Youtube and below the clip you have chosen you will see an ‘Embed’ option and you’ll want to copy that code and paste it into the body of the post. You can then ‘Save Draft’, preview your post and … voila… there you have it!!
I used to love to read, but way back in my past I took on board a limiting belief about my intelligence and how that related to school based learning. In high school it was worse as I struggled to comprehend new ideas and topics, especially if they were science or maths based… algebra and chemistry were not my forte!! Reading and English – great, daydreaming out the window – great, sports – great… but instead of celebrating those wins, I interpreted my lack of understanding in the other areas as an overall stupidity!! So, moving forward into adult-hood learning new things had come with a certain amount of apprehension and fear – I didn’t want to appear stupid. I’ve worked on my limiting belief and no longer see myself as lacking intelligence, however the ‘residue’ was a default setting that caused anxiety when I was faced with unknown learning situations! ESPECIALLY when it came to the computer!! Arrgggghhhhh!!
That’s why I’m so thrilled and share every little thing that I learn now (when appropriate of course!!) The awesome thing that I’ve discovered is that if I just give myself permission to take the time that I need, my mastery of a subject or skillset comes much more readily than when I put an enormous amount of pressure on myself! The BEST part though is the LOVE of Learning and the excitement I feel whenever embarking on something new and when I come up with a new creation based in a technology that used to invoke fear previously!! So.. that’s why I’ve written this post, in just a few short minutes I put together a little clip highlighting photos of a past trip to New Zealand. It was fun and easy to do and inserting, embedding, downloading and uploading didn’t raise so much as a hair on my head!! Wooohooooo!!
Share with me ways in which you have overcome limiting beliefs… or would you like to know HOW to shift beliefs that are holding you back? I’d love your thoughts and feedback!
This morning these were the words that I heard from the back seat of our car, out of the mouth of my 7 year old son, but I’ll back-track a little first so you know how it came about and my thoughts on it since!!
I’d been up early, the kids were dressed in school uniforms and had had breakfast and I was wrapping up a training call that I’d been a co-host on this morning. Q & A had gone a little over time and as I clicked to end the webinar I looked at the time on my computer… 8.17am … oh crap, I’ve got 10 minutes to get out of my PJ’s (sshhhh, don’t tell anyone but now that the mornings are colder I hop back into bed with my laptop and conduct the webinar with the comfort of flannette sheets ~ like I said, let’s keep that between us lol, professional image to uphold!!) make lunches and get the kids to school. Luckily we only live a short drive away!
The next thoughts and instructions to kids were … gotta make the kids lunches, what’s in the pantry, “Lily brush your hair please, Luke put your drink bottle in your bag please, we’re going to stop at the shop on the way to get something extra for your lunch boxes!!”
I quickly dress, hustle the kids to the car and stop at the shop. I dash in, buy a small bag of chippies each to go in for a snack, jump back into the car, hand the chippies to the back seat
…and a few seconds later hear “Oh wow, that’s sick!!”
“What’s sick?” I ask. (Knowing that to a 7yr old ‘sick’ means ‘good’ of course!!)
“There’s a football card in the packet, oh that’s awwwesomeeeeee!”
And in that moment I remember the feeling of child-like excitement of discovery. The moment of delight in something unexpected, the joy at receiving a surprise gift, like when you discover a coin on the ground that will buy a lolly (when 20 cents bought lots of lollies) or the tooth fairy delivers!!
And it made me think of when I first got started in my business! It was that same feeling of having made an amazing discovery, an exciting bonus opportunity that I had hoped for but was barely daring to dream possible, the feeling of having found a treasure, the Tooth fairy, Easter Bunny and Father Christmas delivering all at once!!!
And you know, it’s still the same feeling that I have today, waking up with that feeling of excitement, being on purpose, creating my life the way I want it to be. Exactly the way I want it to be – school excursions, feeding horses, doing webinars in my PJ’s and all – knowing that I’m onto something special. It’s a feeling that replaced the fear and anxiety that had been my waking state prior to that. (I’d literally feel like someone had their fist in my chest and their hands around my throat it was so bad) Not any more. I’m living life the way I want to. And I love the little daily reminders – a simple sentence from my 7 yr old that transports me back in time, causing me to smile and feel grateful that I stumbled my way here!
I hope that you’re creating an awesomely sick day too,
Earlier today I was watching Lily and Luke swim, watching them dive under the water and thinking about all the miracles of life!! Isn’t it incredible that they spend 9 whole months ‘under water’ during a pregnancy and once born and begin breathing air, can NEVER go back to being submerged again!!
That thought really made me think how incredible we are as human beings, in that one moment of transition things will never be the same again! And how many different transitions and glorious moments that we go through on a daily basis and never give a second thought to. We transition from sleeping to waking and just expect this will happen every day. Our heart beats and we don’t give it a second thought. We breathe and don’t have to wonder about the next breath, it just happens all by itself.
If we can appreciate the miracles of life, doesn’t that make each day an amazing unfolding. The people we speak with and the stories they share, the intricacies of a flower, the grace of a dragon-fly or the smallest details of a spiders web!! If we allow ourselves to take those precious moments and pause to really appreciate them, how wonderful is life?!!
Man, I love waking up breathing everyday!! And oh how I love to pause and allow myself the pleasure of seeing my life through fresh eyes and feel the deep gratitude for my many blessings!!
Taking full responsibility for where we are at in life is a very freeing but also confronting opportunity. I was about 23 when I first understood (to a certain degree) that ‘If it was to be, it was up to me’. I was living in New Zealand, in a less than empowering relationship, and was a young mum of 3 small boys. I realised that I was the only one who could change my circumstances and I took the big, bold, scary move and crossed the Tasman to live in Queensland. I still felt like a ‘victim’ however. I was on my journey to learning there was another way to think and to live but there were still many potholes and detours to navigate and thoughts and beliefs to change before I could fully understand about being ‘at cause’ in my life and what that really meant.
In the meantime, I was stuck in BUT mode!! My thinking was along the lines of, “Well, of course I understand that I am responsible for my own happiness, wealth, health, etc, BUT….” And then the excuse(s) would follow!! I’m a single parent, I dropped out of high school so I don’t have the education, I don’t have the money to do that, I don’t have the support, etc, etc.
To really take ownership of your own results in life, you MUST shrink your BUT! You must face your excuses, stop the blame game and catch yourself in the act of shifting the responsibility away from yourself.
Catching yourself in the act is the key. Once you become aware of your thoughts it becomes easier to question whether they are, in fact, serving you well or not. If you come to the conclusion that your BUT is too big, you then have the opportunity to change that and ask a more empowering question. What if I didn’t think I was limited by this situation, what would I try? If I didn’t think that my lack of education was an issue, would I give this business idea a go anyway? There is a famous saying that goes, “If I thought I couldn’t fail, what would I try?” Most of us would be willing to jump in and give it a go!!
So go on, shrink your BUT, you’ll be better for it!
